Britt Doyle opens up himself and does self reflection of himself of a very difficult situation of how he and the family grew and learned how to move forward.It is a valuable lesson for anyone concerned about drug addiction.

Insightful read, and brutally honest!!
A well-written powerful account of one well-educated family's battle with prescription drug and alcohol addiction. Although the subject isn't popular, everyone needs to know about it, and how Britt Doyle describes the unpleasant situation helps us relate to it without a feeling of shame.
This book was/is a page turner for me, I read it in 2 days. Britt shared the heart of a broken family. He shared how his love was deep enough and strong enough to shield his children from seeing their mother in drugged stupors and caring for her at the same time. If anyone is having similar problems with relatives that self medicate to the extent that they pass out on the couch while their young children are in the home this read will give you a bit of support that you may need to push yourself to the best possible decision for your family.. Britt Doyle as an author is honest, loving, conscious, and now knows so much more than he ever cared to know about opiates.
