This book was written as a gift for a handful of people in my life. Some of those I gave it to have suggested I share it with others and I am grateful for their encouragement.
I have wanted to fill a book with words about Jesus for a long time, but my past failures, current fears, and future concerns over what people would think of me have stopped me dead in my tracks. A book is just so intimidating, and my personal experiences remind me that rejections can be so painful.
I guess Jesus liked the idea of another book filled with words about Him and wanted to get me moving again. This project started one day in early December when Jesus invited me to give not a book but pieces of myself in letters on simple pages bound up with a bow. When I was finished with the gift, it strangely resembled that intimidating book I could not write. I disregarded the resemblance, ordered a few copies and put them under the tree.
We never really know what Jesus is up to when He invites us to do this thing or that. He might just be moving us past mountains we fear are too high for our feeble wills to climb. He has a strange and lovely way of getting us to the very places we cannot take ourselves.
As I write this introduction, I see a shadow over my shoulder and know this particular mountain is behind me now. Jesus’ sandal prints are in the dust before me. He is leading me, as He always does, along the path He is ready for me to travel. Even as I whimper that I might not be ready to move ahead, that my words are far too insufficient, He gently whispers, “Look at what your writing says about Me, not about you.” So I just keep writing (and living my life) with that filter at the forefront.
Presenting this intimate gift to a larger audience humbles me. There are zillions of books to choose from and for the time being, you’ve chosen mine. I consider that a sacred invitation. What you will find in these pages are the highlights of a thus far, sweet and salty journey towards Jesus. It is not an origin or a destination but a rest stop, if you will. Much has come before it and I am promised much will come after. Accepting Jesus’ invitation to share the words printed here has taught me that honesty matters. It hits home and helps heal hearts. I want to help Jesus heal your heart like He is healing mine. I hope to offer you words that grow legs, march dutifully into your heart and patch up the cracks.

I trust that every time I pick it up I will glean something new from it. One thing that is truly wonderful about this book is that it's not just about Amy's story, but my story, and my friend's story and maybe your story as well. I have recommended this book to several friends and family members, and I would recommend it to anyone that has ever experienced guilt, striving, love, the complications of relationships or the release that comes from laughing at oneself. Amy's honesty, compassion, and wit made for a great voice to have as I read about what God is doing in the life of others, and what He means to me. Thank you for this book Amy! Most of us rush through life too quickly to stop and listen to what God is really saying to us. A Strange Twist of Faith really helped me to slow down and listen....really listen to what is going on around me. Amy speaks from her heart and connects the dots between her own unique life experiences and the role that Jesus plays in shaping her being. I would recommend this book to anyone who either has not experienced Jesus in their lives or who wants to dig deeper into what he may be saying to you.

An amazing book! You could spend a lifetime trying to gain the wonderful wisdom it contains. Or...you can read this book and try to soak it in through your eyes and pores and heart, like I did. The author's open, personal account of her journey will make you laugh, make you cry, and most importantly, move you to a more loving place. The Scriptures highlighted throughout are wonderful, and illustrate that the story you are reading is grounded in truth and love. Everyone should read this book.
